Prof. Kancha Ilaiah (5 October 1952) former Professor and Head of the Department of
Political Science at Osmani University, Hyderabad, is a born activist and
writer. In 1985, when starvation deaths occurred in the poverty-ridden district
of Mahabubnagar in AndhraPradesh, he established free feeding centres for the starving masses, started a massive
campaign against caste atrocities in India and campaigned against state
repression of the Dalit-Bahujan people in India. For the last 40 years, he has
been fearlessly campaigning against the practice of untouchability in India. His books include:
